Annual General Meeting

Notice of the Canberra Games Society Annual General Meeting

Date: Thursday April 3rd 2025.

Location: Deakin Bridge Club

Time: 8:00PM

Dear CGS Members,

The Canberra Games Society will be holding an Annual General Meeting on Thursday the 3rd of April 2025. This meeting will commence at approximately 8:00PM and we hoe take no more than around 30 minutes.

The proposed agenda is below;

  1. Election of CGS committee members. These positions are as follows;
  1. President
  2. Vice-President
  3. Secretary
  4. Treasurer
  5. General Committee Member
  1. Proposal to create the position of CANCON Co-ordinator as part of the CGS Committee and electing a member to this position;
  2. Proposal to establish a formal CANCON Sub-Committee under the CGS CANCON Co-ordinator;
  3. Proposal for a new logo for CGS and CANCON;
  4. Proposal to have separate logos for CGS and CANCON (this proposal depends upon the discussions of point 4);
  5. Discussion of moving the club’s financial year to align with the Australian financial year and voting to do such.

Regarding points 2 and 3, if these proposals are both approved, the CANCON Co-ordinator will be the only CGS elected position on the Sub-Committee. Other positions on the subcommittee will be identified by the Co-ordinator and filled by them seeking volunteers to assist in the organisation and running of CANCON from the financial membership of the CGS. Please note this does not impact the “Yellowshirt” volunteers who help during CANCON.

Regarding point 4, the CGS logo, the club does not have a current high resolution image of the logo for use in advertising material or communications. It has also been highlighted that the yellow squiggle across the dice is not commonly understood to read “CGS”. This means that the current logo is no longer suitable for use. The committee has already obtained one design which will be shown at the AGM, and members are encouraged to bring their own designs for consideration as well. Please note any submissions should be completed and ready for use and publication. Please bring any submissions as a colour print on A3 sized paper, with a digital file to be available if chosen.

Should anyone have any items they wish to add please contact the committee at the following details:

Kind regards on behalf of the CGS committee,

Stephen Burg
